To Barbara Bray, 8 February 1965: "Never found myself in such a Goddam bloody mess. 2nd rehearsal this evening. Total confusion. Haven't yet begun to clean up 1st act, nor yet started on second. Actors willing but 3rd rate, miscast, lost & worried to death. The great Minetti, who has played Krapp & Hamm all over Germany, & whom I saw so good the other night as Marat in the Weiss play, incredibly wrong as Pozzo - and stubborn (another Beckett specialist). Set all haywire. Shall keep on trying this week and if still no hope after that shall go." -The Letters of Samuel Beckett: 1956-1965, p. 651
