To Jérôme Lindon, Éditions de Minuit, 5 February 1953: "The English translation of the passage from Molloy is not good. I am busy revising it, and, even as it stands, it will do for Merlin. But I have written to Trocchi that it would be better if he dropped for now his project of a complete translation. It would have to be myself that did it, very freely, but I haven't the heart for that at the moment. Broadly speaking, I know that I shall not be able to bear my work being tranlated into English by someone else. And revising, as I'm trying to do right now, is even more trouble than doing my own translating, and for a dire outcome." -The Letters of Samuel Beckett: 1941-1956, p. 358
