To Alan Schneider, 20 May 1961: "Had a hard time here with Godot rehearsals in absence of Blin and Serreau rehearsing Raimbourg's part till a week before opening. But we made out and it is now doing very well at Odéon. I could do nothing else while it lasted, but since beginning of May have been working on the new play and hope to start typing definitive text next week and to send it out towards end of month. You could go on labouring for ever on these things, but the time comes, and I think it has come here, when you have to let them go. You won't find much difference from the script you read - got in the hubby in both acts and think the song will be the Valse duet (I love you so) from the Merry Widow." -The Letters of Samuel Beckett: 1957-1965, p. 411
