See letter to Dulan Barber, John Calder LTD., London, 20 October 1963, for a number of Beckett's corrections to the How It Is proofs. Note 2 states:

"How It Is introduced two oddities that presented typesetting problems: no end punctuation, and stanzas of text divided by an extra line space. All of the concerns were resolved typographically in the Calder edition, without resort to changes of wording." -The Letters of Samuel Beckett: 1957-1965, pp. 575-577
