Sefer Zimrat ha-arets

Description

Zimrat ha-arets is detailed account of the resettlement of Jews in Tiberias in the eighteenth century and the many miracles done at that time. It was written by R. Jacob ben Hayyim Berab (Beirav), a poet and hymnologist. Berab was born in Safed and moved to Izmir, Turkey with his father-in-law, R. Hayyim ben Moses Abulafia before 1710.

The purpose of Zimrat ha-arets was to call to the attention of the Diaspora the importance of the resettlement in Tiberias. This copy of Zimrat ha-arets has an inscription and three drawings on the inside cover. There are two additional inscriptions, one of which includes the name "Shelomoh Yehoshua."
