Sefer Amarot ṭehorot

Sefer Amarot Tehorot ("pure sayings") was the first Hassidic commentary on Sefer Tehilim. It was written by R. Eliezer ben Jacob Ha-Levi (Horovitz) of Tarnogrod, a rabbi and Chasidic author. According to one of his sayings, even the greatest saint has to hide his own light to avoid the sin of pride.

In this copy, the title page is signed in Hebrew by Mendel Yosef Zaoberg, or Mendel Yosel [of] Zauberg (i.e. Sauberg, Germany). In addition, there are two illegible inscriptions in the inside back cover in Hebrew (or possibly Yiddish).

First inscription:

דא האבו אתך די עשו טזה גענאהאט

די מו גה מוט ויסת וו פר -וס האסט דא דעת

גלא- -בו

--

נאך אמהו זאורט שוודייו – זוגוובער יונו

זאו—דעח שחון ניט ולא אהגעת אהרון פוומיר

Second inscription:

פיישר הקטורת הצי והצפורן החלבנה

והלבונה משקל שהעיש מנה מור יגבעה

שבולת פד וברכושר –ש –ל ללה עשרה

ששה עשר מנה הגולש שני- עשר

נגלנפה שלשה שנחון שיפה בורות

כר שינה תלעה גברין שן כפרוכנן - –ן –

תלחא [תבדל לחוום ארוכים] וגבן תלח-ו נא

מביא חסר תוור-ן ערשן מלח סדוחות רובע

מורלה עשו כל שהיא -הו נתן אומר אף כיפת

הורדו כל שגילו
