"Scholarships Planned for Black Freshmen"

Description

Washington University will award 10 full-tuition scholarships to incoming black students next year through the university's John B. Ervin Scholarship Program, officials said.
High school seniors must apply for the scholarships by Jan. 15. The renewable scholarships will cover tuition - $14,800 this year - plus an annual stipend of $2500.
The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic achievement and community service. The program is named for Ervin, a black and former dean of the university's School of Continuing Education and Summer School.
