The Babette Deutsch Papers contain numerous letters from notable poets such as Marianne Moore, William Carlos Williams, Kenneth Rexroth, Theodore Roethke and Irish modernist and Beckett friend, Thomas MacGreevy. MacGreevy (who changed his name from “McGreevy” in 1941) mentions Beckett in multiple letters, such as this one, where MacGreevy recounts he and Jack Yeats having just had a farewell dinner for Beckett who was returning to Paris after staying for a time with his sick mother. MacGreevy promises to send a copy of Echo's Bones to Deutsch.

To Thomas MacGreevy, 24 November 1947:
"I had hoped mother would come to France this winter, at least as far as Paris, and perhaps to the south, but she is worse and can't face it. I am sending her a new Swiss medicine that I hope may do her good. She is very lonely and desolate and can't write to me any more. There seems to be some conspiracy (nothing to do with Frank) to have her put away in a nursing home. I hope she will never consent to this.

"I hope things with you are well as they can [be] and that all the family is well. I see nobody, just work and struggle to keep going. Sauf imprévu I won't be in Dublin before summer. Write to me. My love to Jack Yeats. And my greetings to all your household."
