To Jerome Lindon, Editions de Minuit, 11 February 1953:
"I got the NNRF yesterday. It is not a few sentences that have gone but nearly half a page, from 'La tuméfaction', p. 72 of the ms, to 'Un percheron', p. 73. Well, the whole passage dammit. Too disgusted to read on. I do not know what else they may have cut. Moreover, we should compare it with the final proof.
"It makes me literally ill. A letter, even a stinger, no longer seems to me enough. We shall have to meet. Can I sue him? Or at least oblige him, on pain of legal action, to publish in one of his next issues the passage omitted, and an apology?"
