Film. Complete scenario, illustrations, production shots - annotated copy - PR6003 E282 F5 1969 c.2

On 13 April 1963, Beckett wrote to Barney Rosset of Grove Press: "I have finished a first project for the film, with a certain amount of detail which I won't set forth here, as I'm not at all sure of it."

He went on to describe the three parts of the film (street, stairs of a house and small room) and set it in 1939. He continued:

"No speech. Perhaps sounds (breath, feet, creak of rocking-chair, etc.). But not sure yet.

"I'm letting it lie now for a bit and beginning to feel already the desolemnizing climate it needs - sort of silent film comedy, but not broad."
