M. Swenson, obituary, Herald Journal, December 7, 1989. May Swenson died on December 4, 1989 at the age of 76. The article chronicles her professional life, including the fact that she published 11 volumes of poetry, had been granted a fellowship to Yaddo and had been a poet-in-residence at many universities. Many of her poems have been set to music, performed on the concert stage and translated into at least 5 languages. Swenson was born in Logan, Utah and was buried at the family plot in Logan City Cemetery.
