Dublin Core

Title

Gregory Corso to Isabella Gardner, no date - 4 page letter.

Subject

Gardner, Isabella, 1915-1981

Description

Gregory Corso to Isabella Gardner, no date - 4 page letter typed on tissue paper. Corso writes to Gardner about his early years living in Catholic boys home, orphanages, and prison. He writes about his difficulty learning to live in a "non- institutionalized" world. He tells of how he stole, he was afraid all of the time. Once he met Allen Ginsberg and Kerouac, his life began to change and he stopped stealing. Corso found others to mentor him and he began to write and publish. He still had people around him to help him financially. With the success of his books "Gasoline" and "Bomb" , he felt like he could stop worrying about money and not revert back to stealing. Although, Corso still feels lonely periodically. He admits that he has learned much and probably still has much more to learn.
