Draft of the poem"Witnessing the Launch of the Shuttle Atlantis". There are 6 drafts of the poem. There are also 2 pages of government forms 347 and 348. The government forms called "Order for Supplies or Services" list the amount Nemerov was paid as Poet Laureate- $2000. The Nasa Literature program contracted his services. Nemerov was supposed to witness the launch of the Shuttle Atlantis and extend his experience gained from viewing the launch to his educational activities in classrooms and lectures as part of his duty as Poet Laureate. Nemerov is also prohibited from asserting copyright protection for any works produced in the performance of his service to NASA (unless he gained prior written permission).
