Eva Adams served as Director of the U.S. Mint from 1961 to 1969. She oversaw the rapid introduction of the Kennedy half dollar following the assassination of President Kennedy on November 22, 1963.  Adams later managed the transition from silver to clad coinage in 1965, and the construction of a new Mint facility in Philadelphia that opened in 1969. This file, from the National Archives and Records Administration, represents Adams’ working papers on the Kennedy half dollar.
