Description
Elizabeth Bishop to May Swenson, November 11, 1963. Bishop explains the meaning of the name of the birds that Swenson has asked about. Bicos de Lacre means "laquer beaks" or "sealing wax beaks". Bishop will be sending a gift to Swenson, possibly via Betty T. She thanks Swenson for the clippings and mentions sending Swenson Bossa Nova records in the future. Bishop is translating some poems by Carlos Drummond de Andrade. Bishop mentions that the Ford Foundation did ask her if she wanted to participate in a theatrical production, but she says that she doesn't want to deal with that until she has some free time.
