Elizabeth Bishop to Gardner, October 9, 1955. Bishop writes from Rio and thanks Gardner for writing to her. She is aware that Gardner has seen a copy of her book and has requested that a copy of Gardner's book be sent to her. Bishop says that she hopes to meet Gardner one day. She believes that one of Gardner's former classmates is also living in Rio, also. She lets Gardner know that she just received her letter even though it was dated September 1st. Bishop says that her mail was not sent by air mail, so that probably explains the delay. Letter is typed on very thin, onion skin paper.
